Physiotherapist, Specializing in Pelvic Floor Health
Ashley Ross holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics from Laurentian University and a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from Queens University. Ashley is Rostered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario to perform acupuncture and internal pelvic exams. She is a member of the Women's Health Division with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, Ontario Physiotherapy Association, and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
Since starting her career, Ashley has always strived to create a specific and individualized treatment plan for her clients. She uses a variety of manual therapy, soft tissue release techniques, exercise prescription, acupuncture and education to help her clients achieve their goals. Ashley has experience working with a variety of injuries, neurological conditions, geriatrics and pelvic floor dysfunctions. She became interested in addressing pelvic floor concerns after giving birth to her daughter, when she realized the gap in women’s health postnatally. This caused Ashley to broaden her skill set and begin taking courses to help other women improve their quality of life. Her goal is to encourage women to talk and seek help about issues that they would normally feel too embarrassed to discuss through education, exercise and empowerment. Ashley wants to change the belief that women just need to live with their pelvic floor issues because they “had a baby”, “are having their period”, or “are getting older”. In many cases, there is a dysfunction in their pelvic floor and with treatment their symptoms can greatly improve and/or resolve. In Ashley’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. They enjoy being outside, hiking and exploring the outdoors. She enjoys traveling within Canada and abroad. In 2011 / 2012 she taught English in Thailand and hiked to the base camp of Mount Everest. Her goal is continue traveling and return to backcountry camping with her young family.
